FAQs

Q: How can I enquire about making a booking?

A: Go to my 'contact' page and either fill out the form, call me on the telephone number provided or drop me a text! I will reply as quickly as I can.

Q: Do I need to book well in advance?

A: It is advisable to book as early as you can to avoid disappointment, especially during busy periods such as school holidays.

Q: Are you licensed and insured?

I am a fully licensed and insured establishment.

Q: Will you accept all dogs?

A: There are no breeds that aren't welcome, however I am afraid that I am unable to accept entire males.

Should your dog have any anti-social tendencies, please highlight these to me and I will be happy to make sure I can accommodate your dog's needs safely before agreeing to board your dog. Puppies and elderly dogs can be accommodated but, again, please highlight their age to me as soon as possible during your enquiry to ensure that their needs can be met.

Q: Must my dog be vaccinated/ insured?

A: I can only accept fully vaccinated dogs as part of the licensing regulations surrounding home boarding. It is your decision as to whether you choose to insure your dog during their stay with me.

Q: Will there be other dogs in your home at the same time?

A: Yes, my own two dogs will always be around so your dog will have company at all times. I endeavour to try to introduce a new dog to my home with only one of my dogs at a time so that they are not overwhelmed, Both of my own dogs are friendly and not protective of their space so are happy to meet new people and dogs!

Q: What if my dog's behaviour can be a bit like a dog sometimes?

A: I can accommodate and enjoy all kinds of dog personality and so your dog does not have to be perfectly behaved,

I believe in instilling manners where possible with my own dogs so that it is comfortable for them to be with me wherever I go, and so while your dog is with me then good manners will be encouraged where possible.

Q: Do you offer discounts on multiple dogs or long periods of stay?

A: I am afraid no discounts are given. My fees allow for the fact that I am a small and relaxed boarding establishment for your dog and therefore I am limited on the number of dogs that I can accept each night.

Q: Where will you walk my dog?

A: As part of your fee your dog will have a minimum of 2 x one hour walks per day (unless of course your dog has special requirements such as being elderly or a puppy that requires less walking).

Most walks will take place over Cleeve Hill which is literally over my garden gate. I have a spacious van with large travelling box inside so on occasion I may also choose one of the numerous walks in and around Cheltenham for  a change of scenery for us all.

Q: Will you let my dog off the lead during their walks?

A: Only if you are happy for me to! We will have a detailed discussion about the needs of your dog during their stay before you leave them with me. At this point we can discuss the level of freedom you are comfortable with your dog having during a walk.

Q: What will my dog be fed during their stay?

A: To maintain continuity for your dog's diet I ask that you provide their normal dog food for the duration of their stay. It must be bagged up into relevant portions and labelled.

No treats or food will be given to your dog unless previously agreed with you.

Q: Where will my dog sleep?

A: Clean and dry bedding will be provided for your dog and for most dogs the most comfortable spot in my home is on the underfloor heating in the kitchen with my own dogs, Should your dog require a crate during the night, I can also provide these to save you having to transport your own.

Again, should your dog have specific requirements to keep them happy during the night, you just need to let me know and I will accommodate them where possible.

Q: Do I need to bring any other equipment for my dog?

A: All I need from you is your dog's feed and a lead! Everything else will be provided. I prefer not to allow any dogs to bring their toys from home as I cannot guarantee that another guest may not also take a fancy to it! My own dogs will also not have any toys or favourite items to assist in all the guests being as relaxed as possible during their time with me.

Q: What happens if my dog is ill while in your care?

A: The forms that I will ask you to complete before your dog's first stay, and confirm are up to date before all further stays, will ask you to give details of your preferred action should your dog be taken ill.

Q: What happens if I am late/ delayed picking my dog up?

A: Unfortunately my drop off and pick up times have to be strict to allow me to be organised and prepared for all of my guests. Therefore, if you are late picking up your dog at 6pm you will be charged a full night's fee.

Q: How and when do I pay for my dog's stay?

A: I ask for payment in full for your dog's stay before you leave them with me and can accept cash, cheque (made payable to Cleeve Hill Dogs) or BACS transfer (details will be provided)
